Why We Spend A Lot Of Time At Supermarkets?

A home is a place of lot of things. We buy numerous things for our home daily weekly or monthly. Unlike old days, purchase have become much easier for us after the emergence of supermarkets and shopping malls. As we get all of things needed for a house in a single place , we find it more easier and comfortable to purchase from supermarkets.

But this ‘supermarket culture’ have its own disadvantages too. It have made us spend a large amount on purchase. We tend to buy a lot of things more than what we actually need. At the end it affects our budget and financial stability. Supermarkets practice a lot of ideas to attract their customers and make them buy more.

They follow the rule ‘ Eye level is the buy level’. If we look at a supermarket we can see that the important things for a home have kept in the shelves on our eye level and the things of lesser use is kept on bottom of the shelves. Because we tend to buy things when we see it in our eye level.

They keep the most essential items at the end of the supermarket. We have to go to take them after crossing all other items. This will attract our attention and grow a tendency to buy it even if it is not necessary for us. We can also see the measurements in the packs won’t be that are familiar to us. They maintain a different measure so that it won’t be easy for us to calculate and compare prices.

They keep compliment products in same place. For example shampoos will be near soaps and buckets will be near cups. This is done to induce a feeling of need inside us even if we forget it. We can see lights above the shelves of fruits and vegetables. This gives us a feeling of freshness and buys it often.

A supermarket will be full of mirrors. It is kept to give the feeling that it’s always filled with a lot of items. We can hear mild musics that sooth our eyes. This makes us stay there for a long time. The more time we spent there chances are high to buy more things. They have kept chocolates and other kids friendly items near the billing counter so that the kids will ask for it when we got to billing after purchase.

There will be no windows in a supermarket as we should not know what is happening outside and our attention should be at the products kept there. There won’t be any clocks inside it so that we should not know or think about time and how long we stayed inside a supermarket.

The shopping cart will be big with lot of space. If we go to a supermarket to buy two or three things and keep it on a shopping cart we will get a feeling that there is a lot of empty space and feel an urge to fill it. There will be shoping baskets randomly kept in almost everywhere. They do this so that we will use it to buy more products than we actually planned.
