Starz, one of the leading premium global streaming platforms launched its independent direct to consumer over the top(OTT) app Lionsgate Play in India. It is worth noting that this OTT content platform was silently added to the Google Play Store in India. Big stars in India such as Anil Kapoor, Mukesh Bhatt, Akarsh Khurana Kunal Kholi involved in Lionsgate Play Indian originals. It offers ‘high- budget premium Indian Originals’ to the users of India.
The service has been launched with a new price point in India, starting at Rs 99 per month , Rs 699 for a year competing against other similar platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime as well as Disney Plus Hotstar. Netflix doesn’t have an annual subscription plan, it is the costliest OTT service with a mobile only plan starting at Rs 199 a month and basic plans from Rs 499 -799 a month.
Disney Hotstar premium is priced at Rs 1499 annually while Prime video is bundled with Amazon prime subscription at Rs 999 annually. Lionsgate play app can be available to download across a broad array of platforms and devices including Google Play Store, Apple App Store, Amazon Firestick . Additionally Lionsgate play movies and T V shows can also be accessed via its website.
